What is the YTC?

The Aera YTC powered by the RORC Rating Office and the RYA is a free rating system to promote participation in racing cruisers. The system was taken on by the RYA in 2022 after a decade of it being run in the South West by its creators (SWYTC) with the objective to provide a simple rating assessment so that skippers of any skill level may feel encouraged to enter their boats in one off races, club series or even port regattas.

Aims of the scheme

  • Increase participation in club racing: Encourage more boat owners to engage in club racing events.
  • Provide an easy-to-use rating system for a wide range of yachts.
  • Support grassroots sailing: Boost club-level racing for cruising and cruiser-racer yachts.
  • Enhance accessibility: Make racing more inclusive for less experienced sailors.
  • Streamline the rating process: Use a simple online portal and pre-measured boat data for efficient rating calculations.
  • Promote club registration: Encourage sailing clubs to register on the YTC portal for easier member management and race administration.
  • Expand racing opportunities

Visit the YTC online portal to find out more, register your club or apply for a free certificate for your boat.
