Our Impact

Our impact across sailing, windsurfing, powerboating and the wider boating community in Scotland is varied. We set out with a strategy based around the People, Places and Communities we support and we are pleased to share a second Impact Report, reflecting on some of the differences we have made during year two of our strategy.

People Places and Communities is our strategic plan for the three years from 2022 to 2025, and represented a substantial re-imagining of RYA Scotland, introducing an entirely new regional and local approach to how we support and develop the breadth of boating across Scotland today.

We are pleased to share our latest Impact Report, reflecting on a second year of this strategy.

"I started my role as CEO just over a year ago – it has been a fantastic year with significant highlights. The biggest impact on my thinking over that time has been around the critical role that volunteers play in delivering opportunities to participants and their communities.

"An emerging theme over the last year is that of connections. Our people, places and communities are bound together by positive connections. Working in a connected way means more fun, and hopefully more impact. As a staff team, we have taken a close look at how we work in a more connected way – not just internally but by building our connections with those who are out on the water, working in clubs or delivering training."
