RYA Foundation Youth Fund

Supporting young people to reach their potential through boating

The RYA Foundation Youth Fund offers grants to young people under 25 who are committed to boating, and are showing clear promise, but due to their circumstances need financial help to achieve their goals.

The fund is designed to help break down the barriers of inequality that restrict participation by reason of long-term health, disability, low socio-economic group, cultural diverse community or other disadvantage.

Applications

The Youth Fund’s purpose is to impact as many young lives as possible, so we encourage applications at any time. The Trustees welcome grant applications from across the boating spectrum, not just sailing, and will treat your interest sympathetically and in strict confidence.

To receive an award applicants need to demonstrate

  • A personal commitment to the sport and personal boating goals
  • That an award will help realise strong potential to achieve higher proficiency
  • That financial need is limiting their ability to regularly participate
  • That they are disadvantaged by barriers such as:  disability, impairment, background, or ethnicity.

Whilst not restricted to the following items, grants* will typically help applicants to fund

  • boats, rigs, and boating-related equipment and clothing
  • courses, training, and race entry fees
  • travel and accommodation expenses.

*The current maximum individual grant award is £1,500.
