East Anglia Sailing Trust grains grant to fund new sailors and volunteers

EAST run sailing sessions for young people at weekends, schools on Thursdays and adults during the week. The oldest sailor is 90+ and the youngest sailor is 11. After the offer of a conditional grant in July 2020, EAST arranged and executed a comprehensive programme of training sessions.

Due to COVID-19 East trustees have written risk assessments and procedures to comply with the RYA’s guidance and government regulations – which limited sailing to two people per boat and required the wearing of masks when rigging. Of 23 scheduled training sessions 21 were sailed, one was shore based instruction and one was cancelled because of high winds.
